Battery Arch

This image was captured at Battery Harvey Allen, located in Cape Disappointment State Park (formerly know as the Fort Canby State Park) near the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center on the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington.

What remains of Battery Harvey Allen is slowly being reclaimed by nature. This stark concrete structure is the host of lichens and moss which add a touch of color to its otherwise bleak appearance. On a wet day the floor gleams and the colorful lichen add a muted interest to the form of the structure itself.

In my image I enhanced the interplay of color and light against the battery's geometric pallette.
